This Program Is For You If:

  • You are confused about addressing fluency shaping and acceptance of stuttering at the same time

  • You run out of ideas for stuttering sessions and need evidence-based materials

  • You need a better way to talk about stuttering and therapy progress with kids and their parents

  • You simply don't know where to start OR you are experienced and feel stuck with your current stuttering clients

The 3 Pillars of Stuttering Therapy Academy

  • Setting the Stage: The Why

Why are we assessing and treating stuttering the way that we do? How do we set the stage for evidence-based and effective therapy in our evaluation, goals, and conversations with the child and parents before therapy even starts?

  • Intuitive Therapy for the Physical

How are we taking awareness, avoidance, secondary behaviors and tension into consideration when it comes to addressing the physical aspects of stuttering? What can we do to guide the child to a place where openly stuttering occurs in a natural and neutral way?

  • Lasting Therapy for the Affective

How are we effectively addressing the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that can come along with being a person who stutters? If we are looking for lasting change, what skills are we teaching them so that they can build resiliency and support themselves throughout their lifetime?

What You're Getting

STA was created to provide SLP's with comprehensive training in stuttering therapy across all age groups (preschool, school-age, teens/adults).

  • 12 Week of Live Calls

Live coaching calls with Victoria weekly. These calls are for delivering new evidence-based information each week based on the pillars of the program, as well as to address functional, real-life examples and questions from students. All calls are recorded for later viewing if need be.

  • Modules with Therapy Resources

Work through additional online resources at your own pace, meant to enhance your understanding and your stuttering therapy toolbox. Included here are therapy materials (worksheets/packets created by Victoria and used in her own practice, videos, websites, etc.), research articles, parent handouts, intake forms, goal banks, etc.

  • Online Community

An online space with 24/7 access to Victoria and other stuttering-trained SLPs. You will have access to this online chat community during AND after the course (for free) in order to keep growing as you implement what you have learned and seek further support.

What SLPs are Saying

“I signed up for STA because I didn’t feel confident in my stuttering evaluation and treatment skills. Although I knew fluency shaping and traditional stuttering modification strategies weren’t considered best practice anymore, I honestly didn’t know what to do instead or where to start. Fast forward to now, I just finished the course and feel prepared to evaluate and work with preschool, school-age, and adult clients who stutter. I feel like I have so many more tools, along with some really great resources that Victoria shared with us. The information felt very practical and easy to apply to real therapy situations. Victoria is also incredibly supportive and available. She’s always open to answering questions that come up during the week, even outside of the live sessions. I wasn’t able to attend many of the live coaching calls, but I still felt really supported and like I was part of the cohort. Also, Victoria is just a great teacher. She explains things in a way that’s clear and easy to understand, and you can tell she really wants everyone to feel confident using the information. I 10/10 recommend this course! ”

Amanda Durrell, M.S. CCC-SLP

“As a pediatric SLP, this course was invaluable to my understanding of stuttering therapy. It increased my awareness of neuroaffirming approaches to stuttering versus traditional fluency shaping strategies. The course provided education on stuttering across the lifespan (preschool, school-age, and adults), offering support in all areas of clinical practice including evaluation and treatment, along with research to support the information being taught. Victoria provided ready-to-use resources (LOVE these!), which made it easy to implement therapy strategies immediately. The 12-week structure and small cohort allowed for meaningful learning and collaboration on a more personal level compared to traditional CEUs. I truly learned so much from this experience. Victoria developed an excellent course to support therapists on their therapy journey. I’m glad I took the leap to further develop my stuttering skillset to best support my clients.”

Instructor

Victoria Dertouzos

Victoria has been a practicing speech-language pathologist for almost a decade and is the proud owner of Speech & Stuttering Therapy of New Jersey, a private speech therapy practice focused on supporting people who stutter. Prior to opening her private practice, Victoria worked as a school-based SLP, as well as a per diem medical SLP in the acute care setting. During this time, her priority was expanding her knowledge base to better serve those who stutter and their families. She has accrued over 100 hours of continuing education hours in the area of stuttering since 2020 and completed over 1500 hours of direct clinical activity (i.e, treatment, evaluation, parent consultation/training) in the area of fluency and fluency disorders in her career thus far. Victoria hosts Camp Dream. Speak. Live. every summer for kids who stutter and runs therapy groups for her clients. While she is extremely passionate about supporting those who stutter and their loved ones herself, she is especially enthusiastic about helping other SLPs feel confident in doing the same.
